I got a nice little surprise today; both my Sephora Play box and my first FabFitFun box arrived! My last few Play boxes have been really nothing special so I’m hoping for something good, and the FFF box is supposed to be epic, so here we go.
My first thought when opening the Play box was “Oooh, art deco. Nicely done.”
Though the “Glam Straight” slogan can be misinterpreted, overall I think it’s a cute idea.
The bag contains deluxe samples of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, Miss Dior perfume, IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream, Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray, Makeup For Ever Artist Creme lipstick and a little Smashbox eyeshadow duo. I’ve tried the IT Cosmetics moisturizer and the Better Than Sex, so those are going in my box of stuff to giveaway (maybe to my readers, who knows?).
All of the other stuff went into my sample drawers, and with the exception of the perfume, I’ll likely use it this weekend. I’m not much for fragrances so I’ll end up adding this one to a gift or something for tomorrow.
Honestly, I’m not thrilled with this box; I mean, really, who hasn’t tried Better Than Sex at this point? I feel like Sephora should be including samples from some of the new brands they’re carrying, or at least newer releases.
So, on to FatFitFun. One of the YouTubers I watched introduced me to this box, and while it’s pricier and is sent less often than other subscriptions, I think it’s worth every penny.
My first thought here is that the box is soooo pretty, and had the mailman not left it out in the snow to get soggy I’d likely use it to wrap someone’s gift.
Inside there’s a huge pile of stuff!!

The first thing I pulled out is this full size (!!) Kate Somerville ExfoliKate stuff. I know this is insanely expensive ($75. No joke), so this one product alone makes purchasing the box worth it. I’ve already gotten almost twice my money’s worth with this one product.
Next, I pulled out a really nice black and gray poncho from BB Dakota, aloe-infused cozy socks, a pretty silver multi-strand necklace, and this adorable mug. Dan will be so mad, but I love it.
I really thought that was it, but there was more at the bottom! Some Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral hand cream that’s so emollient but not greasy, a fitness ball and exercise program from Jillian Michaels, who I hear is simultaneously a sadistic madwoman and a fitness genius, and some awesome anti-wrinkle energizing eye masks.
Also, an eyeshadow palette from a brand I’m not familiar with:
It’s a nice, heavy palette that feels like it’s good quality, and all of the pans are magnetic and pop out relatively easily. I learned this on accident when attempting to remove the cover from the highlighter on the left. I’m excited to use this palette and might give it a whirl tonight.
Overall I’m extremely happy with the contents of the FFF box. The total for all of these products at their retail price is $350, almost 10 times what I paid for the box! And I love that it’s not cheap crap. This is a box I’ll likely be keeping my subscription to, whereas the bloom is coming off the rose with my Play membership.
Do you have subscriptions? What do you think of them, and would you recommend any?
I love finding out what other people get in their subscription boxes. I’m not sure if these two are available in the UK, but the second one definitely sounds good. I wrote a post about my subscriptions here if you’d like to have a look: https://unseen-beauty.com/2017/10/13/subscriptions/
I have two beauty ones but I think one will be going in the New Year because I feel like a change.

I’m kind of feeling like I’m missing out by not subscribing to Fab.Fit.Fun.

I’m really sad I didn’t find it sooner. It’s a bit on the expensive side but after getting my first box I think it’s totally worth it.
