We now interrupt our regularly scheduled Blogmas post to bring you: something different.
A review. Of a product I’ve been using all month long. Whaaaaaat?
This is a mask I picked up on a whim. I’d heard good things on YouTube and the reviews on Amazon and Ulta are overall pretty good, so I figured why not?
The packaging is really nice; it comes in a luxe feeling and fairly heavy glass jar with a sturdy plastic lid. The mouth of the jar is pretty big so it’s easy to get the product out, even if you’re extra like me and use a mask brush. The consistency is thinner than I expected; my other clay masks are thick and a bit gloopy, almost like frosting, but this has a consistency more like nacho cheese. It smells a little bit like laundry detergent, and it’s not terrible but it’s not my favorite thing about it. Like most of the other clay masks I use it dries down really stiff, to the point where I can’t move my face much, and it takes some work to get it off.
Pros: It has that cool, tingly feeling that makes me think it’s really working. After I use it my face stays matte longer and doesn’t feel as textured. It dries pretty quickly. It’s a drugstore mask so it’s pretty affordable, and it’s on sale just about every other week. Also the color… I’m a sucker for anything green.
Cons: The smell. I don’t know what it is, but I really don’t like it. It’s not bad per se, just not what I expect a mask to smell like. You also only get 1.7 oz in the jar, so it doesn’t go very far. Just to compare, the Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask that I love so much and mentioned waaaay back in the day has 4.2 oz, which actually works out to be cheaper per ounce than this mask.
Overall I like this mask, but I don’t know if I’d purchase it again. I’d like to try some of the other masks in this line, especially the black one. Supposedly it’s a dupe for the Glamglow Supermud mask that I’m low key obsessed with.
Have you tried these masks? If so, what do you think? I’m also curious about the clay facial cleansers from this line, so if you’ve got opinions I’d love to hear them!
