Surprise! I got bronchitis!

This week has been rough.

I woke up Sunday feeling a bit run down with a slightly scratchy throat. No big deal, right? Of course not. By the time I woke up Monday morning my body was in complete rebellion, and my symptoms multiplied like bunnies overnight. I slept for almost two entire days. I literally never call in sick to work; there’s no need since I work at home at my own pace and make my own schedule. This week I took two sick days. Yeah, it was bad. Every additional ounce of energy I’ve had has gone into working my actual job, so blogging fell by the wayside.

So has actually trying out new products. It was all I could do to shower and moisturize every day. Dan knew I was feeling a bit better today because I insisted on throwing on a face mask before I took a shower this morning. I don’t even know why I chose this one; it’s supposed to be ultra moisturizing (first impression coming soon), but my skin wasn’t exactly feeling dry. It just felt sort of… wonky. I really don’t know how better to explain it. I, like I’m sure a lot of us do, have a pretty strict skincare regimen that involves lots of steps, like exfoliation and serums and twice daily washing that just doesn’t happen when I’m this level of sick. It’s what keeps me pimple-free and passing for a decade younger than I am. My skin is tired, textured, and 100% over not being babied like normal.

So my absolute musts when it comes to my skin, even when I’m sick, are daily washing and moisturizing. My hair is basically the same, but every other day. It doesn’t keep me pretty but I can at least stand the sight (and smell) of myself, and in a way it makes me feel the tiniest bit closer to normal.

How about you? What are the things that you absolutely have to do for yourself when you’re not feeling well?

I had bronchitis AND the flu simultaneously last year, so I definitely understand what you’re going through! Get well soon! When I’m sick, all I want is for people to love on me. Hugs and sweet conversation always make me feel better fast.

I’m so glad you’re on the mend! Cozy up under lots of blankets, take showers as hot as you can stand so the steam breaks all that yucky stuff up, and rest. Oh, and drink TONS of water and hot tea with lemon 🙂
