I don’t typically like drugstores. Most of them (around here anyway) are old and a little grungy. I go in for cold medicine and prescriptions and then get the hell out.
Walgreens is different, and I weirdly love being in my local store. It’s bright, clean, the employees are helpful and I always feel like I’m getting a deal, especially on makeup. There are always great sales, plus points and discounts from the Balance Rewards program. Shopping on the site offers additional sales and discounts, and this week I found an awesome deal for anyone who likes No7 cosmetics.
I know I’ve mentioned special holiday packs before, and I plan to do a roundup of this season’s best bets, but I found a little gem from last year lurking all lonely on the Walgreens site: No7 Midnight Capsule Collection.
Yes, this is from last year, but if the products haven’t been opened (we know they haven’t because they’ve been sitting in a warehouse) they’re still good for a year or more. This set includes:
- Airbrush Away Primer
- Lash Impact Mascara, Black
- Matte Lip Crayon, Raspberry Wine
- Gel Finish Nailpolish, Deep Wine
- Stay Perfect Liquid Eyeliner, Black
- Smokey Eye Palette
All of these products are full-sized, and they come in a really pretty sparkly black bag that will definitely be turned into a clutch when I go to fancy parties. I’ve wanted to try everything in this kit, so dropping $12.49 on it was a no-brainer. Then I looked at the retail price: $50. Cool, I got it for a quarter of the original price. Then I started thinking about the price of these products individually:
- Airbrush Away Primer – $19.99
- Lash Impact Mascara, Black – $10.99
- Matte Lip Crayon, Raspberry Wine – $9.99
- Gel Finish Nailpolish, Deep Wine – $8.99
- Stay Perfect Liquid Eyeliner, Black – $8.99
- Smokey Eye Palette – $14.99
- Makeup bag – $10(?)
The total for the makeup is $73.94; I have no idea how much the bag would cost, but it’s likely more than $10. I picked up a concealer which brought my total over $20, and they included a bag filled with samples of other products I’ve wanted to try, like the Burt’s Bees cleansing oil. The bag also included coupons and a discount code. Oh, and I had a $5 Walgreens reward, and making this purchase earned me another $5 reward. It’s like they’re paying me to take the makeup. TAKE THE MAKEUP TERESA!
